SUK-JAI
A Fragrance Inspired by Thailand’s Shared-Grill Culture
SIAM1928 × Bar B Q Plaza
A fragrance born from the happiness shared around the grill.
Not the smell of a restaurant, but the feeling of sitting together, waiting for the food to cook and sharing it with the people around you.
-
The Story Begins Around the Grill
For many Thai people, a shared grilled meal is about more than eating.
Someone looks after the meat. Someone adds vegetables to the broth. Someone mixes dipping sauce for a friend. And when the food is ready, it is passed around the table.
Everything happens together around one grill.
SUK-JAI began with a simple question:
What does happiness around the grill smell like?
-
A Familiar Thai Ritual
Moo kratha is a Thai style of communal dining that combines grilling and simmering in a single pan.
Meat is grilled on the raised centre, while vegetables, tofu and other ingredients are gently cooked in the broth surrounding it.
As the meal continues, juices from the grill slowly flow into the broth. The flavour develops with time, shaped by everything that has been cooked and shared around the table.
It is not simply a dish.
It is a social ritual.
-
A Memory Shared Across Generations
Bar B Q Plaza opened its first restaurant in Bangkok in 1987.
Over the years, its distinctive grill, dipping sauce, fresh cabbage and friendly green dragon, Bar B Gon, became part of birthdays, family meals, celebrations with friends and countless everyday gatherings.
For many Thai diners, Bar B Gon is more than a mascot.
He is the guardian of the shared grill and the keeper of joyful memories.

Why Not Grilled Meat, Smoke or Charcoal?
A fragrance inspired by barbecue might naturally begin with grilled meat, smoke or charcoal.
But those scents can be found in almost any grill restaurant. They do not fully explain what makes the Bar B Q Plaza experience so memorable.
We chose to look beyond the most obvious elements.
We returned instead to the details people remember more intimately:
Fresh cabbage slowly softening in warm broth.
The green freshness of vegetables on the table.
The soft creaminess and gentle spice of dipping sauce.
And the warmth of sharing a meal with others.
The grill may attract the appetite, but the cabbage and dipping sauce complete the memory.
-
From Table to Skin
SUK-JAI does not recreate the literal smell of food.
Instead, familiar elements from the table are translated into the language of perfumery.
The crispness of cabbage becomes green, airy and watery.
The complexity of dipping sauce becomes soft, creamy and gently spiced.
The warmth surrounding the grill becomes White Musk and Sandalwood resting close to the skin.
The result is a fragrance with a culinary memory at its heart, refined into something designed to be worn every day.
Familiar enough to awaken a memory. Refined enough to wear on the skin.

The Scent Journey
The Gentle Simmer
Green Cabbage, Violet Leaf, Black Pepper
The fragrance opens with the sensation of fresh cabbage being lowered into warm broth.
Violet Leaf brings a cool, green and watery freshness. It captures the moment when the leaf is still crisp but beginning to soften in the steam.
Black Pepper adds a subtle sparkle, recalling seasoning and warm vapour rising from the grill.
The effect is fresh and green, but never harsh or overly herbal.
-
The Dipping Sauce
Soybean Accord, Carrot Seed, Coriander Seed
The watery green opening gradually becomes softer, smoother and creamier.
Soybean Accord creates the impression of a gently sweet sauce coating the surface of a cabbage leaf after it has been dipped.
It is not salty or strongly fermented.
Carrot Seed brings a delicate root-like earthiness, while Coriander Seed adds an airy touch of spice.
These notes do not smell literally like carrots or coriander. They add texture and detail, leaving room for each wearer to discover something different.
Part of the fragrance comes from the formula.
The rest is completed by memory.
-
The Warmth That Remains
White Musk, Sandalwood
As the fragrance settles, the green and spicy notes begin to soften.
White Musk brings a clean, gentle feeling that stays close to the skin.
Sandalwood adds smoothness, creaminess and warmth.
The wood is not used to recreate smoke or charcoal. It represents the warmth that remains after a meaningful meal has ended.
What begins green, watery and lightly spiced gradually becomes soft, clean and comforting.
-
One Name, Two Meanings
SUK-JAI brings together two Thai expressions with nearly the same pronunciation.
สุขใจ — Suk-Jai
The happiness, comfort and warmth we feel when we are with the people who matter.
สุกใจ — Sook-Jai
A poetic play on the moment ingredients slowly cook on the grill, becoming a meal ready to be shared.
One meaning comes from the act of cooking.
The other comes from the feeling it creates.
As the food cooks, happiness grows.
-
More Than a Meal
SUK-JAI is a story of simmered cabbage, dipping sauce, a warm grill and a green dragon remembered by generations of Thai diners.
But the fragrance does not seek to preserve the smell of food.
It preserves the feeling of waiting for ingredients to cook, sharing food with others and spending time together around the same table.
SUK-JAI captures what remains after the meal is over:
Warmth. Closeness. And the joy of sharing.
