Description
Samphathee, a prominent figure in the Thai epic Ramayana, is a mighty red bird with unparalleled strength and keen eyesight that spans up to a thousand yojanas (roughly 80-150 km). As the elder brother of Sadayu, he sacrificed his magnificent feathers to shield his younger sibling from the blazing sun, earning a curse from the Sun God that left him featherless and grounded.
This curse confined Samphathee to a cave by the ocean until the arrival of Rama’s army, who lifted the curse with three resounding cheers. His feathers grew back, majestic and fiery, akin to a phoenix reborn. Grateful, Samphathee aided Rama’s army by guiding them on a reconnaissance mission to Ravana’s kingdom, ensuring their safe return.
Inspired by this tale of sacrifice and renewal, Samphathee captures the essence of sacred fire and smoke. The opening reveals Choya Loban, a traditional Indian extraction of Frankincense (Boswellia Serrata), delivering a smoky yet sweet resinous aroma, complemented by Cypriol and Nutmeg to evoke the warmth of flickering flames.
The heart unfolds with Clove and Rose, representing the fiery red feathers of Samphathee restored, intertwined with Palo Santo’s soft smoky touch. The base anchors the fragrance with earthy Patchouli and smooth Cedarwood, creating a seamless and enduring finish.
More than just a fragrance, Samphathee is a journey through myth and magic. It embodies courage, sacrifice, and renewal, making it an unforgettable experience for those who seek profound and meaningful scents.
