Great Argus

Deep in the humid rainforest's embrace,
The proud Great Argus makes his dancing floor;
He rules this grand and ancient sacred space,
And clears the leaves away forevermore.

His loud "wow-wow" is echoing around,

The Great Argus is a magnificent bird that fans its tail out beautifully, much like a peacock. While its colors may not be as vibrant or varied as a peacock's, the Great Argus boasts rich brown hues adorned with stunning, intricate feather patterns.

In the wild, it is a rare bird that can only be found in primary forests, pristine environments that are abundant and fertile enough to serve as the foundation for lush evergreen jungles, such as the deep forests of Kaeng Krachan National Park. There, the male will clear a wide arena on the forest floor, call out, and fan his feathers into a magnificent large dome to attract a female for mating.
