Inspired by the Thai epic poem "Phra-apaimanee," penned by the renowned poet "Phra Soonthornvoharn," also known as "Soonthorn Pu." In this mesmerizing narrative, a mermaid, with the upper body of a beautiful woman and the lower body of a fish, resides in the ocean with her family. Tragedy strikes as she loses her family while saving Phra-apaimanee from the Ocean Giant. Seeking refuge on "Koh Kaew Pitsadarn" island, the mermaid and Phra-apaimanee find love and have a son.

Phra-apaimanee later leaves to explore the world, leaving the mermaid to give birth to a human boy she cannot raise in the ocean. Desperate, she entrusts her son to a wise ascetic.

"Assan" perfume draws inspiration from this tale, meaning "The Tears of the Ocean." Its fragrance encapsulates the mermaid's three heart-wrenching experiences: loss, separation, and sacrifice.
