Art and culture flourished during the Heian period, the crowning chapter in the annals of classical Japan. The first great novels were written. The spinning of verse was an everyday activity at court. Beauty was not just admired but identified with human goodness. So it was that, more than a thousand years ago, rituals of incense burning evolved, on a par with flower arranging and the tea ceremony.
Over time, the Japanese developed and refined Koh-Do - The Way of Incense - to a new height of mastery. The aromas became a symbol of pride, each aristocratic clan creating its own unique fragrance that set them apart. This kind of distinction, and nothing less, is recreated here.
Scent Profile: “Ameenah’s Oud and Sandalwood blend harmoniously with exquisite citrus notes and warm spices, evoking the refined essence of the Kodo ceremony and reminiscent of the elegance of the Heian era.”
